Getting Started
1
Make Contact.
This sounds simple, but it’s the hardest step of all. You can schedule your free 15-minute consultation using the button above. We can connect over a phone or video call, whatever you prefer. We can get to know each other briefly and decide if we are a good fit for each other. I can’t wait to meet you!
2
Preparation.
If you decide to move forward with Sycamore Counseling Services, you will receive all your intake and consent forms electronically. Take time to read the information thoroughly and complete the questionnaires to the best of your ability. That’s it. Once you’ve filled those out, don’t forget to celebrate your progress.
3
First Session.
Your first session is commonly referred to as an intake session. You are getting to know more about me and I am getting to better understand your concerns and goals for counseling. We will work together in the first session or two to create treatment goals and gather all the necessary background information. We encourage you to arrive to your appointment 20-30 minutes early to take advantage of the lounge and hospitality.

FAQs

Our practice is NOT in-network with any insurance providers. We are able to provide you a superbill for services provided. This can be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement according to your out-of-network benefits. We encourage you to investigate your policies out-of-network benefits if you are interested in working with Sycamore Counseling Services. HSA and FSA cards are accepted. How long are people in therapy?
The answer to this question depends on your goals for therapy. Some client’s find their treatment goals are met within 4-6 sessions. Many other clients prefer to tackle goals that will take more sessions. Your counselor will be able to provide more specific information during your intake session.
Is it confidential?
Confidentiality is one of the most important parts of the relationship you have with your counselor. You will receive a copy of our confidential disclosure agreement in your intake paperwork. In the first session, your counselor will review the limits of confidentiality. State law and Professional Ethics require counselors to report the following situations:
Suspected past or present abuse or neglect of children, adults, and vulnerable adults to the authorities, including Child Protection and law enforcement, based on information provided by the client or collateral sources.
If the therapist has reason to suspect the client is seriously in danger of harming him/herself or has threatened to harm another person.
Sometimes, you may want your therapist to share information or give an update to a healthcare provider or other individual. If so, you will work with your counselor to complete a written Release of Information.
Do I have to schedule a consultation?
No! If you have reviewed my website and you are ready to get rolling, we can jump right to the intake session. Call/text or send an email and we can get scheduled. We will chat for a few minutes about the process, I will gather some basic information from you and if everything looks good and you would still like to proceed, we can move forward with scheduling.
